The Group / Overview
...............................................................................................................
Hanganeni is an Investment Holdings company created in 2003 to participate in Namibia's process of broad-based Black Economic Empowerment.
Our shareholders share a disadvantaged background as a result of the war of liberation that brought about Namibia's independence.
Namibia has always been a country rich in natural resources, however, an oppressive regime made it their strategy to ensure that the majority of native Namibians never got to share in this wealth. We, at Hanganeni, strongly believe in ensuring that all Namibians benefit from our nation's vast resources. >>> read more
Ownership
...............................................................................................................
The shareholding of Hanganeni Investment Holdings reflects the diversity of Namibia's demography. Being true to the concept of broad-based empowerment, Hanganeni ownership comprises the following:
•The Hanganeni Development Trust
•The Indira Ghandi Health Centre Fund
•The Mekondjo Consortium
The Hanganeni Development Trust
...............................................................................................................
was formed to facilitate the grass root level entry of community members in the mainstream economy, providing socio-economic benefits for their communities.
The Trust objectives are to:
Create sustainable employment
Stimulate entrepreneurial development
Improve standards of living, and
Promote education and training
The current beneficiaries of the Trust include a group of rural women in the Kavango Region involved in rural based activities. The Hanaganeni Development Trust acts as a vehicle to emancipate the rural beneficiaries to engage in entrepreneurial activities adding value to their communities.

The other beneficiaries are a group of elderly men and women from the North Western parts of Namibia or more specifically the Omusati and Kunene regions. These individuals had made sacrifices that cost themselves and their families countless lives and opportunities. They fulfilled various roles during the war for independence and are now part of a community caught up in an ever-changing world.
The Indira Ghandi Health Centre Fund is the brainchild of Former President and Founding Father of the Nation, Dr. Sam Nujoma. It was created for the purpose of generating funds for the creation and sustenance of the Indira Ghandi Health Centre in the Omusati region.
This health centre serves over 30 000 impoverished Namibians in the rural areas and, through its involvement with Hanganeni, receives the necessary financial assistance needed to sustain and grow its operations.
The Mekondjo Consortium represents a group of four skilled black individuals who felt the need to include grass-roots community members in the process of broadening the ownership base of the Namibian economy.
These individuals occupy strategic positions in both the private and public sector and have an array of diverse and complimenting skills. The Mekondjo Consortium handles the day-to-day running of Hanganeni Investment Holdings. |
